Durango resident, Beverly Elizabeth Stone died Tuesday, October 5, 2021, in Durango, Colorado. She was 94 years and 7 months old. Beverly was born in Oconto, Wisconsin, to Wilfred and Blanche Erieau on March 26, 1927. She was one of eight children. On April 15, 1950, she married Wendell Leon Stone in Bellingham, Washington. Their marriage was blessed with two sons and one daughter: Sherryl, Neal, and Kevin.
Beverly worked at Mercy Medical Center for many years as a registered nurse and a supervisor. She loved to fish, knit, garden and above all play games with family and friends. She and Neal played a game just about every afternoon that was possible. Beverly enjoyed traveling with her husband in their fifth wheel to places like Haviland Lake and Miramonte Reservoir. Beverly was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for many years.
Beverly is survived by two children, Sherryl Stone of Baker City, Oregon, and Neal Stone of Durango; siblings, Delcian (Sis) Scanlan, Duane Erieau, and Wilfred Jerome (Junior) Erieau; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell, of 60 years, a son, Kevin Stone and four siblings.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Florida Mesa Church of Christ, 622 Hwy 172, Durango, Colorado.
The family would like to thank all those very special people that assisted with Beverly's care and especially those of the Bayfield Mill Street Church of Christ for providing many things that made her life easier. She had wonderful neighbors also. She loved each and every one of you.
Beverly's remains will be buried in the family plot at the Crestview Cemetery and everyone is welcome to attend.
