Betty Lou Yawn, of Fred, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2021. She was born Betty Lou Flanagan on March 28, 1935, to Walter Flanagan and Louella King in Corinth, Mississippi. Later, after moving to Texas, she met RB Yawn, to whom she was married for 53 loving years. Together, they built a life and a family that continues to build upon the examples they set.
Betty loved God, her family, friends, and church dearly. She was an involved member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Fred for over 60 years. Betty was a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) and Scrub Tech at numerous hospitals and facilities in Southeast Texas.
She was a friend to many and cherished those relationships. Betty enjoyed Canasta, her regular gatherings of games and fellowship, and her Good News Sunday School class.
Betty always had a seat at her table for anyone who walked into her home. Through her memorable saloon-style kitchen doors came delicious meals that were talked about far and wide. Cooking was a love language for Betty that was shared without exclusion.
