Betty Ann Wurster, 94, formerly of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Citizens Nursing Home, Frederick, MD.
Born Friday, November 22, 1929, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anna M. Lookabaugh.
Betty graduated from Waynesboro Senior High School in 1948, where she was voted "Most Cooperative" and served as the art editor of the senior yearbook and class secretary. She went on to graduate from Hagerstown Junior College and Frostburg State University.
Betty was an executive secretary and estates and trust paralegal, retiring from the law office of Myers, Young and Grove. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed travel, tennis, square dancing, swimming, and art classes. She continued painting well into her 90's and cultivated this talent in her grandchildren. Betty also loved the Outer Banks of North Carolina and spending time with her family.
She was a member at St. Ann Catholic Church, Hagerstown, MD and was attending St. Ignatius of Loyola, Ijamsville, MD. Betty was also a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 Auxiliary, the Washington County Museum Auxiliary, and the Elks Lodge, Hagerstown, MD.
She is survived by her son, Mark Wurster and wife Karen; daughter, Lee Ann Wurster-Naefe and husband Randy; grandchildren, Christopher D. Wurster and wife Heather, Amanda Reahl and husband Rob; great-grandchildren Charles D. Wurster, Copper D. Wurster, Camden D. Wurster, and Penelope A. Reahl.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Darrell Wurster and brother, John F. McIntire.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 11:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, prior to the service.
Interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
