Betty L. Vandevander of Leesburg and formerly of Dayton, VA, passed away at Heritage Hall Leesburg on Saturday, May 23, 2020 from complications of COVID-19. She was born Sept. 28, 1933 in Harrisonburg, VA, and is survived by her children: sons, James E. Vandevander of Harrisonburg, VA; Randall G. Vandevander (Pam) of Staunton; and her daughter, Terry V. Mawyer (David) of Ashburn, VA; grandchildren: Matthew B. Vandevander (Dana) of Harrisonburg, Emily V. Budd (Ben) of Mt. Crawford, VA, Leanna M. Ferreira (Trey) of Waynesboro and Abbey V. Church (Adam) of San Antonio, TX; great-grandchildren: Kissane and Brandon Vandevander, Kate and Luke Budd, Alex Ferreira and Aaron and Asher Church; brother, Eddie Wimer (Jamey) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Edward Wimer and Eva Pearl Sponaugle Wimer; her husband, Glenn C. Vandevander, daughter, Nancy Sue Vandevander and grandson, James E. Vandevander II. Betty was a hard worker and liked by all, especially by the students at Bridgewater College where she worked for many years. A special thank you to all the wonderful nurses, staff and friends at Heritage Hall Leesburg. Betty was greatly blessed by each of you. A private service will be held by the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in Betty's honor.
