Betty Johnson (Viers) Vailes

Betty Johnson (Viers) Vailes, age 83, of Nesbit, Mississippi passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022. She was born March 17, 1939, in Bemis, Tennessee, to Everett Lee Viers and Bessie Irene (Wilson) Viers. She graduated from Southside High School, Jackson, Tennessee and retired from Memphis Publishing Company as a credit collections manager. She attended church at Parkburg Baptist Church, Jackson for a number of years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, league bowling, and competitive softball.

Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Carthel G. Johnson and her siblings, Martha Stewart, Billy Viers, and Mary Cooper. She is survived by her husband, Harold Ray Vailes; daughter, Jonnie Lundgren (Ron); grandson, Rick Lundgren (Christen); great-granddaughters, Ryleigh, Emmy Kate, and Ricki; and step-children, Jean Tamboli (Frank), Randy McKay (Marsha), and Tina Parham and their families.

Services will be Thursday, January 5 with visitation at 1:00 PM and funeral services at 2:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Burial will be in Memphis Memory Gardens, Memphis.
