Betty Ann O'Tuel Tyson, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at The Carolina Inn at Village Green.
She was born in Lumberton, NC, on September 19, 1930, to the late John Weldon O'Tuel, Jr. and Mary Ella Cottle O'Tuel.
She was preceded in death by her two beloved sons, James Russell "Teeter" Tyson II and Samuel Dixson Tyson, Jr.; sister, Helen O'Tuel Moran; and brother, Isaac Lee O'Tuel.
Betty Ann's dream of entrepreneurship became a reality in 1970 when she opened Betty Tyson Dress Shop "The Feel of Fashion" in Manning, SC. For over 25 years many memories were made with her daughter, Sandy, during their market buying trips. Later locations were in Sumter, SC and Fayetteville, NC. Upon retirement she moved to Myrtle Beach where along with enjoying the beach life she became an avid duplicate bridge player.
Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted companion, Charles Byrd of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Sandy Tyson Cogdell (Charles) of Fayetteville, NC ; grandchildren, Quin Cogdell (Caroline) of Dallas, TX, Betty Cogdell of Denver, CO, Samantha Tyson Letendre (Daniel) of Augusta, ME; two great grandchildren, Paige Letendre and Lacey Letendre; sister, Mary Lund of Fayetteville, NC; and sister in law, Kay O'Tuel of Raeford, NC; and her nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of The Carolina Inn for their exceptional care, love and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Manning United Methodist Church, 17 E Rigby St, Manning, SC 29102, The CARE Clinic, 239 Robeson St, Fayetteville, NC 28301, or a charity of one's choice.
A private service is planned.
