Betty Jo Strozier was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 1, 2022 in Willis, Texas.
Betty was born on August 4, 1929 in Willis, Texas to Clinton Reginald and Gladys (Yawn) Greer. She lived a full and blessed 92 plus years residing the majority of those years in Willis. She graduated from Willis High School in 1946 where she met the love her life AB Strozier. AB and Betty married in 1949 and their love remained strong for 71 years. She was a member of the Willis First Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Her family and friends knew her best as a loving mother, grandmother and a loyal friend. She loved camping with friends and family, enjoyed bluegrass festivals, and was a very competitive 42 and Skip-Bo player. She loved reminiscing about the past and would tell stories that would have everyone laughing. She and AB were members of the Spring Creek Bluegrass Club and they spent many a weekend attending Bluegrass Festivals. Betty also loved working in her flower beds and around the yard. She used to crochet and do needlepoint and we will always cherish the love she put into our afghans and needlepoint pictures.
She is preceded in death by her husband, AB Strozier; sister, Bernice Walters and brother, Buddy Greer.
She is survived by her loving family, daughter, Linda Darland; sons, Paul Strozier and wife Terri; Mark Strozier and wife Kim; grandchildren, Phillip "Shannon" Darland, Christopher Darland (Cindy), Jennifer Mazon (Tucker), August Bonner Strozier (Maisie) and Emily Schaubert (Corey); great grandchildren Kara, Kaden & Katie Darland and Brecken & Brooks Mazon and soon to be great grandson Rhett Schaubert.
The funeral will be held at Metcalf Funeral Home on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 2 pm with Brother Charles Smith officiating, and visitation will be held at 1 pm. Interment will be at the Willis Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church Willis Building Fund, 12177 I-45 North, Willis, TX 77318 or to The Fellowship of Willis Food Pantry, P.O.
