Betty J. Stimson, 84, died after a period of failing health at the Grafton County Nursing Home. She was born on December 8, 1936 in Haverhill, NH to Erville and Roberta (Miller) Stimson. Betty graduated from Woodsville High School with the class of 1955 and then attended Plymouth State College, graduating in 1959.
Betty was an elementary school teacher in Raymond and Epping prior to retiring to Bath, NH to care for her mother. She continued to work in local schools as a substitute teacher for many years following her retirement.
A lover of music, Betty enjoyed singing in the church choir, North Country Chorus, and the Rockingham Choral Society. She was an active member of the Woodsville United Methodist Church. Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed visits from friends and relatives, listening to music, watching the birds, and patting her cats.
She was predeceased by her parents, Erville Stimson on February 2, 1964 and Roberta Stimson on January 14, 2001; two sisters, Norma Stimson Ackroyd on October 24, 1984 and Barbara Stimson Robinson on October 5, 2011; and a nephew, Joshua M. Stimson on October 24, 2010.
She is survived by her brothers, Ron Stimson and wife Peggy of Rochester, NY and Jeff Stimson and wife Jane of North Haverhill; along with nieces, nephews, and friends.
Betty will be buried in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery in Woodsville on Saturday June 5, 2021 at 10AM with Melissa Gould serving as Celebrant.
Masks and social distancing (per current CDC guidelines) are requested for attendance at Betty's services.
