Betty F. Metevier, 84, passed away on May 1, 2021, in Newmarket NH following a period of declining health. She was born September 4, 1936, in Georgetown MA, daughter of the late Sereano F. King and Olive (Rogers / Poole) King. She lived in Rowley, Ipswich and Haverhill MA before moving to Fremont when she was young, attending local schools. Betty was proud to be a member of the first graduating class at the "new" Ellis School, having previously attended the one room schools on Beede Hill Road. Betty married Lloyd E. Metevier on September 18th, 1954, and built their home at 705 Main St., Fremont, where she lived for 60 years. She enjoyed her work as a cook at Fremont's Ellis School for several years, and also worked in the packing department at Spaulding & Frost Company. Betty loved to garden, and was especially proud of her gigantic tomato crop. She enjoyed knitting, creating hats, mittens and scarves for veterans. Betty loved to bake, and was especially fond of her wedding cakes. Throughout the 60's & 70's she enjoyed working on ham & bean suppers and rummage sales for the People's United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her loving husband Lloyd E. Metevier on Veterans Day 2011, granddaughter, Tessa Lamare, grandson Todd W. Metevier, and brothers Robert, Clayton, Richard and Paul Poole. Betty is survived by sons, Lloyd R. and his wife, Penny Metevier, of Exeter, William and his wife, Sandra Metevier, of Gilford; daughter, Marion, and her husband, Dennis Lamare, of Lee; and three grandchildren, Mark Metevier of Stowe VT, and Zach Lamare, and his wife Sarah as well as their three sons, and Ericka Metevier, of Rocky Hill CT. Betty is also survived by her brother Peter Poole and his wife Susan of Exeter NH who she enjoyed a very close relationship with. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Friday May 7th, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 8th at 1 p.m. in the Peoples United Methodist Church, Main Street, Fremont. Burial will follow in the Leavitt Cemetery, Fremont.
