Betty Jane Kearns Hamel, 90, of Wallingford, CT, died Tuesday, 1/18/22, at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield, the wife of the late Joseph D. Hamel. She was born in Milo, ME, on August 21, 1931, the daughter of the late Harold E. and Eula A. (Ford) Crozier.
Betty Jane was a graduate of the Manchester School System. She attended the University of Maine in Farmington, ME and lived in the Manchester and Wethersfield areas prior to moving to Wallingford, CT, in 1980.
Prior to her retirement in 1994, she was Vice President of Insurance Programmers, Inc., in Wallingford. She was a former member of the Hartford Business and Professional Women's Club. Betty Jane was a parishioner of the Yalesville United Methodist Church in Yalesville, CT.
Among her survivors, Betty Jane leaves her daughter, Karen L. Grenier and her husband Donald of Colrain, MA; her son, Kevin M. Kearns and his wife Joyce of Columbia, CT; her sister-in-law, Vicki Crozier of Oregon; six stepchildren, Noelene, Carey, patty, Jane, Chris and Karen; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Betty Jane was predeceased by her brother, Harold E. Crozier, Jr., her granddaughter, Lauren Grenier, and a stepson Joseph Hamel and her partner of ten years Robert Erdos.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
