Betty Jo Daves Hollon, longtime resident of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Mrs. Hollon was born in Blue Ridge Ga. and lived there throughout her childhood. She was the only child of Addie Jewel and Joseph W. Daves, who preceded her in death along with her husband of 63 years Walt W. Hollon. She was educated at Blue Ridge High School, Cumberland College, and the University of Kentucky. She retired from Aetna Life Insurance Company where she functioned as Office Manager and Assistant to the Southeastern Regional Vice President. Her activities included participation in the Order of the Eastern Star, where she received several state appointments. She served as President of the National Federation of Grandmothers Clubs of America from 1996-98, and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Atlanta Chapter Alfred H. Colquitt #2018. She was a member of the Lawrenceville First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, directed children's' choirs, was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, and served as organist in several churches. She was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus for eight- and one-half years, which provided opportunities to sing in Carnegie Hall, a presidential event for Jimmy Carter in Washington DC, and numerous programs at Symphony Hall in Atlanta. She is survived by a daughter, Janet Daves Hollon of Houston, TX, son Terry W. Hollon (Patricia) of Spartanburg, SC, and a grandson Terence Bradford Hollon (Madeline) of Columbia, SC. Al and Laura Hollon, nieces and nephews, Ponte Vedra, FL, Everett and Dorothy Daves (special cousins: Topeka Kansas. Mrs. Hollon would like to express her appreciation to her many friends for their prayers, love and care. A private graveside service will be held at the cemetery for the immediate family.
