Betty Jane Bunkley Williams Sherlock April 18, 1932 - Sept. 28, 2024.
Jane was born in Brunswick, Georgia to the late Walter Jack Bunkley and Betty Bennett Cooper Bunkley. Preceded by her husband Donald A. Williams and by her son, Calvin Williams. Her brother W. Jack Bunkley, Jr. also preceded her in death. Her loving family including her daughter in law Molly, her Sister in law, Martha Lamar, nephew Brit, nieces Jane and Juliet are left to miss her and remember her as Big Jane. One of the kindest and sweetest souls you could ever meet. She was like a 2nd Mother and a big part of a small family. Surviving Jane are nephews Ken Williams and Britt Williams as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Jane moved to Atlanta where she graduated from Henry Grady HS. She met Don Williams and married. Calvin was their only son and resided in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Jane's career started at Rich's in Atlanta but spent nearly 40 years at Cobb Exchange Bank as a Teller. She was friendly, outgoing and never met a stranger. She personally touched everyone she met and was loved by so many. Jane loved politics and was active with the Democratic party wherever she could be of good use. She was President of the Big Shanty Garden Club, President of the Acworth Business Professional Women's Club, and served as Treasurer at Acworth Presbyterian, served as an Elder and taught Sunday School. Jane was a member of too many clubs to list. To say the least, she was an active participant in anything that she believed God put before her to help and serve others.
Jane re-married after Don passed to John T. Sherlock in 1992. She inherited four wonderful daughters, Kathy Scott, Mary Martin and twins, Patricia (Cat) and Eileen Sherlock, two Grandsons John and Christopher Self. They resided on Whitlock Ave. in Marietta until his passing in 2003.
We will all miss Jane and all the light and love she brought to our families.
Funeral Services will be held at Acworth Presbyterian on Oct. 10th at 1:00 with Fellowship and Visitation starting at 11:00. Online condolences can be express at www.collinsfuneralhome.org
