Betty Jane Rogers Nederveen, 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, February 11, 2022. Her Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Road, at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel Saturday from 1:30 pm until time of the service.
Betty was born December 1, 1934 in Broxton, Georgia, daughter of the late Sankey Cecil Rogers Jr. and Mildred Brim Rogers. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia. She worked as a dietician at Emory University Hospital before moving to Port Lavaca, Texas, where she met Jan Nederveen. She and Jan spent most of their 27 year marriage in Badin, North Carolina, where they raised their three children. Betty was involved in the school system in Badin in many different roles before retiring to Daniel Island, South Carolina. There she lived happily for 20 years. After a few years back in North Carolina, she returned to Daniel Island, where she was happiest.
She is survived by her daughter, Kriena Nederveen of Los Angeles, CA; her sons, Paul Nederveen of Raleigh, NC, and Jan Nederveen of Charlotte, NC; and her grandchildren, Steven Zackery Raffin and Olivia Colette Raffin, of Los Angeles, CA. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Sanky Cecil Rogers, III, and Billy Joe Rogers.
