Betty Jeannine Havard
Help us celebrate Betty! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Betty.
Betty was born on March 23, 1934 in Lufkin, Texas. She stepped into heaven on Sunday, December 29th to be reunited with her loved ones.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Reverend Wayne Havard; son, Russell Martin; son, Jack Martin; and parents Clarence and Sybil Mills of Lufkin, Texas.
Betty graduated from Lufkin High School in 1952 and enjoyed staying in touch with her classmates through the '52 "Girls Luncheon". Betty retired from Lufkin Industries as a secretary in industrial gears, but retirement did not remain quiet. She spent her retirement in service alongside her husband, Reverend Wayne Havard, as he served as an interim pastor for several churches throughout Texas in their time of need. Her and Wayne would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on Christmas Day. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Lufkin where she spent many of her happiest years.
She would share that her most precious role was called "Nana". She spent countless years raising grandchildren which she declared was her favorite thing to do, other than watch her Astros on game day. Some of the fondest memories shared were in the kitchen over home cooked meals with a home full of family & laughter.
Survivors include her loving grandchildren; Chrystal Havard-Tamillo, Justin Havard, Clay Martin, and Hannah Martin; and five great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held for close friends and family at a later date where she will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, of Lufkin. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church of Lufkin, TX in her memory.
She loved deeply and in return was loved by so many.
