Betty Jean Graves, 88, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Millers Merry Manor in Hope, Indiana.
Betty was born August 25, 1932 in Jefferson County, Indiana to parents Evie and Elsie Aldridge.
She was a long-time member of Memorial Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday school and sang in the church Choir. Betty worked at McDowell Adult Education as a bookstore aide and retired after 19 years of employment.
She was an avid reader and loved walking and playing Euchre.
Betty is survived by four daughters, Beverly Hamilton, Doreen Graves, Linda Graves, and Brenda (Sherri Dudley) Graves; two sons, Lynn (Sherry) Graves and Anthony Graves; ten grandchildren, Gail Stevenson Kimberly Graves, Krista , Stephanie Whitney, Krista Sallie, Season Nicole, Lyle and Benjamin Oesterling, and Justin and Ashley Graves; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, a great-great grandchild on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, George Graves; four sisters, Norma Henry, Glenna Tash, Irma Sloan , and Dorothy Jones; four brothers, Dale, Orville, Donald, and Robert Aldridge; grandson, Brandon Dudley; great-great grandson, Michah Haynes; and son-in-law Stephan Hamilton.
A memorial service for Betty will be held Wednesday, July 14 at 5 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel. Friends may gather for visitation one hour prior to the service, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Hopewell Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
Memorial donations in Betty's name may be made to the Hopewell Cemetery Association.
