Betty Gibbons passed away on June 10, 2022. Betty was born Davida Elizabeth Ruth Bohning on December 22, 1928 to Davida Allgood Bohning and William Garrett Bohning in Ranger, Texas. She married Dr. Olin Welborn Gibbons, Jr. of Dallas, TX and was mother to six children: Beth Everett, Martha Nelson, Susan Florence, Sam Gibbons, Diane Haggard, and Garry Gibbons. Betty was a docent for the Dallas Zoo for over 40 years. She was awarded the "City Volunteer of the Year" by the mayor of the City of Dallas for her efforts. Her energy was endless as she spent her days reading, sewing, making the most incredible fried chicken and plum jelly, and was the most magical of grandmothers to her grandchildren. She was a pillar of strength, a constant source of love, and servant her entire life, all while making it look effortless. Her warmth made everyone who walked through her life feel welcomed and valued. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Olin, her parents William Garrett and Davida, and her brothers Bill and Bob Bohning. Betty is survived by her six children, her 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, Dallas TX 75225.
