Betty June Noel, age 86 of Perryville, MD, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
Born Betty June Gatchell, in Elkton, MD, on September 25, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Earl Harold and Edna C. (McKinney) Gatchell of North East, MD. A lifetime resident of Cecil County, Betty lived in North East until her family moved to a home on Route 7 outside of Charlestown.
A 1956 North East High School graduate, Betty worked at the Perry Point VA Hospital in Canteen Services for 20 years. She later worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground until her retirement in 1993. While working at Perry Point, Betty met her future husband, John and they were married on August 18, 1962. John and Betty raised three children in Perryville, MD.
Betty volunteered her time to help in many causes, including the Perryville Little League and the Cub Scouts. She was able to have a significant involvement in the childhood years of each of her three granddaughters. Betty collected salt and pepper shakers, cookie jars, and Pez dispensers. Her hobbies included reading, jigsaw puzzles and watching western movies and shows.
Betty is survived by son, Michael Noel of Perryville, daughter, Lori King of Perryville, and son, Richard Noel of Perryville; grandchildren, Heather King, Aleesha Noel and Jessica King; sisters, Jean Racine and husband Bill of Elkton, Darlene Gatchell of Elkton; brother, Roger Gatchell and wife Rosemary of North East.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John in September 2005; brothers: Richard, Earl and Robert Gatchell; sisters, Shirley Boyd Andrews, and Barbara Raech..
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
