Betty Sue Fontana, 91, of Beaumont, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 9, 2021 in Hurst. She was born October 11, 1929 in Jasper, Texas.
Betty spent all her adult life in Beaumont TX, moving to Hurst TX in the fall of 2013. She married the love of her life, Cecil Fontana, on June 2, 1950 in Beaumont. Betty worked for Entergy Corporation in Beaumont for over 41 years, retiring in 1994. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb second to none. Betty had a tender heart for animals. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She is survived by her brother-in-law's, Larry Fontana; James Fontana (DeWayne); her sister-in-law, Dorothy Fontana; her nephews and nieces, Gene Fontana, Jeff Fontana (Cathy), Gary Fontana (Dot), Johanna Dent (Warren), Kim Fontana, Kevin Fontana (Carrie), Nicole Fontana (Don), and Christian Fontana (Darla); and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Fontana; her father, Frank Gloor; her mother, Helen Thompson, her sister-in-law, Alta Lee Fontana; and also, by her beloved Lhasa Apso, Toby.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, North Richland Hills.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2021 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont under the direction of Forest Ridge Funeral Home, North Richland Hills.
In lieu of flowers, Betty requested that consideration be given to making a donation to either the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) www.aspca.org; or to St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org
