Betty H. Browning, 94, of Columbus passed from this life on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 9:23 p.m. at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Browning was born on June 21, 1926 in Madison, Indiana the daughter of Francis and Helen Distel Bilz. On July 15, 1946 she married John R. Browning.
Mrs. Browning was a homemaker and was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Women of the Moose, American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Women's Gild at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. She had a tremendous love for her family and grandchildren. She loved to bake and was known for her wonderful homemade noodles.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Ted) Sullivan of Madison and Bob (Jeannine) Browning Jr. of Bargersville; brothers, William Bilz of Greenwood, Robert (Barbara) Bilz of Columbus, Francis Bilz Jr of Madison; sister, Frances "Bo" Hammond of Alabama; grandchildren, Missy Humbert, Julie Lyons-Simmons, Abbey Horst, Lisa Laug; step-grandchildren, Casey Sullivan, Shawn Sullivan, Chris Sullivan; great grandchildren, Tyler Humbert, Ali Sentell, Penny Laug, Davis Laug, Archer Horst, Adeline Horst, Easton Horst; step great grandchildren, Nikaya, Cadence, Sophia, Ryan, Brooklyn, and Brianna Sullivan; great great grandchildren, Willow Humbert, Luna Copeland, and Lotus Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years on July 31, 2009; and her brothers, Russell Bilz and Tony Bilz.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2020 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church; Father Chris Wadelton will be the celebrant.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12 p.m. to time of mass at the church. We do ask that patrons follow the social distancing guidelines and masks are required to be worn once inside the church.
Entombment will follow at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
