Betty Mae Kincaid Boyles Boylen, 93, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Betty was born in Fairmont, WV on January 6, 1927, a daughter of the late James "Rex" and Eva Sharp Kincaid. She was preceded in death on December 3, 1987 by her first husband, Max Lowell Boyles, whom she married October 6, 1946 Her second husband, Charles "Buddy" Boylen, whom she married May 11, 2002, preceded her death on July 24, 2006. In addition, she was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Landon Lowell Boyles, her sister, Mary Kathryn Tebay, and her brother, Dr. Jack Kincaid. Betty graduated from Grafton High School in 1945. She retired in 1991 as a Taylor County Board of Education school secretary at Anna Jarvis Elementary School, with 17 years of service. She enjoyed seeing the children as they came and left school every day. She was a member of the Grafton Hospital Auxiliary, and the Knottsville Farm Club. Earlier employment included Baby World and Vandevender Sawmill, as secretary. She was a Presbyterian by faith and a member of the Church of the Covenant of Grafton.
She was known for being a hard worker, an efficiently-organized secretary and a talented cookie-baker. She enjoyed exercising, reading, antiques, Pocahontas County history, gardening, and most of all later years----shopping. Betty is survived by two sons, Stephen Lowell Boyles and partner, Lizz Holland. And Michael Allen Boyles and wife, Kay. She was "Mammer" to her four grandchildren: Deveran Layne George and husband Shawn, Morgantown, WV; Jarret Michael Boyles and wife Vanessa, Charlotte, NC, Bailey Lowell Boyles, Columbus MS; Carly Paige King and husband Josh, Columbus, MS. And Holly Sherman and husband Paul, Atlanta, GA.
Betty's five surviving great=grandchildren are Tanzer George, Autumn George, Laiken Boyles, Liam "Max" Boyles. Hannah Sherman, Avery Sherman. Cue to Covid-19, a private graveside service at the National Cemetery will be held. Any memorial contributions may be made to WVU Medicine Hospice (UHC) 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
