Betty C. Belshaw, 96 of Palm City, Florida, joined many family and friends in Heaven on March 29, 2022 after a brief and unexpected illness.
She was born in Greenville Michigan, the daughter of Nels and Martha Christensen. She married Gordon C. Belshaw in Rochester N.Y. in May of 1948 and they were married for 72 years. Gordon predeceased her in April 2020.
During her life in Rochester, N.Y., she was very active in school activities, from the PTA, to school plays. Her other volunteer activities were with the Red Cross and being a buyer for the Genesee Hospital gift shop. She worked tirelessly to ensure the gift shop window displays were always attractive and eye catching.
After being snowbirds in Florida for many years, they eventually moved to the East Coast full time in 2001 to be closer to their daughter Nancy (Michael) Kowalczyk.
Betty was very active, enjoying skiing, golf, playing cards and bingo. She had a passion for horses and supported the Equine Rescue and Adoption Foundation. Her other major passion was helping children. She was a long-standing volunteer with the 4C's (Caring Children Clothing Children organization) even when working in the store was no longer an option for her.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Gordon, her brother Robert H. Christensen, daughter Sally B. Knauf, grandson Daniel Gordon Knauf, Bianca B. Knauf and many dear friends.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Nancy and Michael Kowalczyk, grandson Andrew Peter Knauf, great grandson Jacob Ryan Knauf and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at the Stuart Congregational Church, 3110 SE Astor Lane, Stuart, FL 34994 on April 6, 2022 at 10 am.
