Bessie W. Burton, 87, of Atlanta, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away Monday, July 9, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Doyle Edwin and Rosa Lee Hutchinson Walraven. Bessie worked alongside her husband as a sales representative for his construction company, Joe Burton Company. Bessie is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Wood and her husband, Hunter, and Carolyn Thomas; son, Lewis Burton and his wife, Denise; four granddaughters, Rebecca Shellem, Kerry Wood and her husband, Thomas, Sunshine Thomas and her husband, Neil, and Belle Thomas and significant other, Sherri Vibbert; and many more loving family and friends. In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Alfred Burton, and daughter, Ginny Burton. Bessie loved her family, enjoyed bridge with friends and her flower garden. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. with services at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Louis Miller officiating.
