In the late thirties she moved to Loudoun County to help her oldest sister and seek employment. In 1939 she met her husband, and they were married for 68 years until his death in 2007. In 1977, they moved to Fancy Gap, VA and enjoyed many years on their farm, raising cattle and tending a big garden. Three years ago, she moved to Fredericksburg to live with her oldest daughter, Marie. It's hard to put into words how much she meant to untold numbers of people. She was a God-fearing woman who loved Jesus but didn't preach. She modeled how to be a true Christian and was always willing to help family, friends, and neighbors whom she welcomed into her home with open arms and a big smile. She never met a stranger and loved to hold babies and make them smile and laugh. Anyone who visited would be well fed and given a care package or two. She loved animals, especially her songbirds which she enjoyed watching and feeding. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 17 at 11:00 p.m. at: Colonial Funeral Home 201 Edwards Ferry Rd.
