Beryl Bounds, Jr., 68, of Knoxville, TN, died in his home surrounded by family on November 6, 2025. He was appropriately known as "Buddy", as he was a great friend to everyone he met.
Buddy was born in Knoxville to Beryl, Sr. and Betty Caldwell Bounds in 1957. He graduated from Carter High School before receiving both an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. He went on to a distinguished 37-year career in engineering, sales, and leadership at Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, TN and Allentown, PA, before relocating to Wake Forest, NC and working for Novozymes (Novonesis). He cherished the opportunities his career provided to travel the world and form lasting friendships along the way. He retired to his hometown of Knoxville in 2022.
He deeply valued each church he was a member of and was always eager to serve - whether by singing in the choir, leading small groups, or lending a helping hand wherever it was needed. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing, though he'd say the real joy came from spending time and sharing laughs with the people he was with.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents Beryl and Betty Bounds and brother-in-law Steven Cobb. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Sharon Bounds, children Bradley Bounds (Baltimore, MD) and Emily Bounds (Nashville, TN), brother and sister-in-law Doug and Lisa Bounds (Kingsport, TN), sister-in-law Susan Cobb (Knoxville), uncle Dean Bounds (Largo, FL), and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of life will will be held at 6 pm on Saturday, November 15 at Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane Drive, Knoxville, TN. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 4-6 pm. Buddy enthusiastically supported the Loudon County Habitat for Humanity and Concord United Methodist Building Fund.
