Bertha Louise Zimmerman, 82, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, departed from Earth and into the loving arms of our Savior at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022. She passed with loved ones by her bedside.
Bertha was born September 26, 1939 in Pike County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Peter "Sonny" Farmer and the late Laurel "Jane" (Lansing) McCoy. On December 3, 1954, Bertha was united in marriage to Lawrence Zimmerman, who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by many siblings.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Marc) Zimmerman-Woodburn and Debbie Zimmerman, three granddaughters, Ashley (Jeremy) Higginbotham-Fritz, Brandy (Joey) Balzer and Casey (Erick Neufarth) Bianco, eight great-grandchildren, Sydney Balzer, Josiah Balzer, Elijah Balzer, Eden Bianco, Roman McCutcheon, Carmen McCutcheon, Jorden Fritz and Justen Fritz. Also surviving is Harry Bianco, who she loved like a son.
Bertha was married to Lawrence for nearly 60 years. She spent time as a homemaker before becoming employed as the head cook at Zahn's Corner Middle School within Scioto Valley Local School District from 1978 to 2009. She was saved at Bailey Chapel Church in April of 1975, along with her husband, who was baptized the same month. Bertha, who was affectionately called "Mamaw," spent her time selflessly caring for the needs of others. She had a servants heart and consistently met the needs of others before meeting her own.
She resided at Randall Residence of Wheelersburg, Ohio, for the past six years where she received excellent care and compassion. She regularly attended their chapel service and was considered one of their "most faithful attendees." She loved partaking in their weekly activities such as bingo, nails, and exercising.
Mamaw spent her final years consistently spending quality time with her granddaughter, Brandy, along with Brandy's children. Brandy and family want to extend a special thank you to the staff at Randall Residence for their exceptional care, Heartland Hospice for their compassion, and SOMC Hospice Center for exceedingly and abundantly meeting Mamaw's needs. Mamaw left behind a "legacy of love" to ALL that knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2022 at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio with Pastor Kevin Green officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey Chapel Cemetery, Piketon, Ohio.
