On January 11, 2021 our beloved Bertha Adela Lopez, 61, left us peacefully to join Our Lord and Savior and was reunited with family that passed before her.
Bertha was a life-long resident of Oxnard, born on August 18, 1959 to Benjamin and Maria Tirado. She was a graduate of Channel Islands High School, class of 1977. Born into a family of bakers she began working at the family business, La Especial Bakery, at an early age and later became an accountant for Lagomarsino's and Allied Distributing.
On March 27, 1982 she married the love of her life Simon Lopez and they began their journey together. In January 1983 they had their first daughter, Vivian followed by Angela in 1985 and Raquel in 1991. Bertha enjoyed taking little weekend getaways with her husband. She loved to visit and stay in touch with family in LA, Blythe and Mexicali. More recently she enjoyed a few cruises and visiting Mexico.
Bertha was proud of the girls that she raised, and her grandchildren were her treasure. She loved getting up in the morning to make them breakfast before they went to school and enjoyed taking them for an afternoon snack when she picked them up from school. She enjoyed sitting outside in the nice warm sun watching the kids play in the yard. On occasion you could find her pressing her luck playing BINGO or at Chumash playing the slots. On most weekends she could be found at the bakery whether it was taking customer's orders, just chatting it up with an old friend or acquaintance or helping make tamales with the family. She faced many challenges and health issues in her life but she always faced them head on even when she should have perhaps been taking it a little easier, she insisted on living her life to the fullest.
Bertha was known by so many for her bright smile and her witty, sassy sense of humor, generous heart, and for the friendships and bonds she made with all the people she came to know and love. She is forever engraved in the memories and hearts of all that knew her.
Bertha is survived by her husband Simon Lopez, daughters Vivian Lopez (William), Angela Delara (Bryan), Raquel Lopez (Joshua) and her grandkids Terrance, Joseph, Noah, Aria and Kylo. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers Marcela Tirado (Paul), Sylvia Tirado (Alex), Ruben Tirado (Carol) and Benjamin Tirado (Laura) along with several nieces and nephews.
