Bernice Elizabeth Carwardine, age 95, of Janesville, WI passed away on December 11, 2024, at SSM Health St. Mary's Janesville Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 2, 1929, in Milton, the daughter of John M. and Julia (Pierce) Mullen. Bernice grew up on the family farm near Milton and graduated from Milton Union High School in 1946.
Bernice married William C. Carwardine on June 19, 1954. They had two sons, Kurt and Bernard. Bernice was employed by Parker Pen Company and retired from Burdick Corporation. Her favorite thing was being kind and compassionate to others in need. She loved spending time with her three grandsons. Her grandsons were a huge part of her world as she was theirs. She enjoyed cooking and baking and will be remembered for the delicious apple pies she baked. She also enjoyed quilting and always looked forward to family gatherings. Bernice was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Bernice is survived by her son, Bernard "Bernie" (Shelley) Carwardine of Green Bay, WI; grandsons, Cody (Alyssa) Carwardine, Matthew Carwardine, and Shawn (fianc?, Ally) Carwardine; brothers, William (Karen) Mullen and Robert Mullen; and many special nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Carwardine on November 5, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her son, Kurt Carwardine; her parents, John and Julia Mullen; brothers, Richard M. "Dick" Mullen, and John D. "Jack" Mullen; sister, Rosemary Butler; sisters-in-law, Paulette Mullen and Jackie Mullen; and brother-in-law, Edward Butler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon, Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Milton. Visitation will be at the Church from 10 a.m. until noon on Tuesday. The Carwardine family is being assisted by HENKE-CLARSON FUNEAL HOME. Online condolences are welcome at www.henkeclarson.com.
