Bernard M. Sheridan, a businessman, devoted husband and head of a large Irish-American clan, died at home in Ashburn, Va. on March 7 of cancer. He was 88. A Bronx native, Bern attended Regis High School and Fordham University. He became a transportation specialist in the U.S. Army and went on to a career in logistics at Union Carbide and ITT. His passion was his family. He was married for 62 years to the former Carol Hock, and had five children, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They remember his humor, his integrity, his eternal quest for golf excellence. He nurtured his family and his community, putting boundless love into things large and small. Survivors also include his two sisters and 23 nieces and nephews. Bern and Carol lived for 23 years in Palm Coast, Florida, where he was active in Habitat for Humanity, the Knights of Columbus and St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic church. A small funeral was held at St. Theresa's Church in Ashburn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Parkinson's Foundation.
