Bernard Paul LaPlante, 96 of Adams, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Craneville Place in Dalton.
Born in Adams on December 14, 1924, he was the son of the late Anthony E. and Rossana Filion LaPlante, attended Adams schools and was a graduate of the former Adams High School. He then joined the US Army and was deployed overseas during WWII, serving in Normandy, Northern France, and the Rhineland in Central Europe, and during his deployment became a POW. Bernard received several commendations and medals including the Purple Heart.
After returning to Adams he became a US Postal Mail Carrier for many years, retiring in 1985. Bernard was a communicant of Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams. He was an avid walker and in his earlier years enjoyed square dancing.
He is survived by his wife, the former Bernice Dupee, whom he married on August 14, 1947. A son, Michael LaPlante and his wife Cynthia of Cheshire, a granddaughter, Amber Chalmers of Adams, a great granddaughter, Skylar Baker of Adams, several nieces and nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Daniel LaPlante in 2019.
Services for Bernard will take place Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10am from the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, 01220. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday October 22, 2021 from 5 to 7pm.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
