Benny Dean Rehders, age 74, of Odessa, TX, died on Sunday, September 5, 2021, in Athens, TX. Benny was born on August 9, 1947 to Malcolm Dean Rehders and Jane Wininger Rehders in Odessa, TX. He was raised in Odessa, but spent some time in Farmington, NM before his father's death. He worked for Sameden Oil from 1980 until they were purchased by XTO in 2002. He retired in December 2019. Benny loved and appreciated the outdoors. He was extremely competitive and to no one's surprise was an avid sportsman his whole life. In his younger years he raced cars and motorcycles in Penwell, TX. One of his best friends introduced him to archery, where he perfected his skills and enjoyed hunting and competitive competitions. He was also a skilled marksman and participated in competitive pistol and rifle events. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf with his buddies. He was a member of the Permian Basin Bow Association, Action Masters Pistol Club, and the National Rifle Association. Benny is loved by so many and was taken before his time was up. To know him, was to love him. Benny is preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Jane Rehders. He is survived by his daughters, Kerri Heflin of Austin, TX, Mirenda Morgan of Midland, TX and Melissa Warren of Midland, TX; brother, Herb Rehders of Midland, TX; sister, Carolyn Stevenson of Odessa, TX; grandchildren, Corey Heflin of Tomball, TX, Tera Roberts of Coweta, OK, Stephanie Hobbs of Midland, TX, Nicole McMurrian of Midland, TX, Courtney Lassiter of Dodge City, KS, Tyler Heflin of Austin, TX, and Colton Summers of Tahoka, TX; great grandchildren, Peyton Hobbs, Caanan Heflin, Liam Hobbs, Baylor Roberts, Blakely Pipken, MaKenna Hobbs and Luke Roberts. Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 13, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell.
