Benita was born in a log cabin on August 3, 1934 to Rochelle Ebbe McGoawn and Jewell Ennis Mauldin in Fort Worth, Texas. She was baptized at a young age in a creek near her home in what she called, "a family affair."
Benita attended and graduated from Keller High in 1952 where she was a cheerleader and a beauty queen who enjoyed riding horses, particularly one name Gypsy. She later attended Dallas County Junior College and received an Associate's Degree as a machinist. Benita was employed at Texas Instruments before becoming a machinist for Bell Helicopter in Arlington, Texas. When she was upgraded to the mill department, she met Elbert Edward Feeler and their love story began.
Elbert remembers, "Benita was the best thing that happened to me," recalling how she made him change for the better. "I'm thankful she's been in my life; I married my best friend," he continues, "I know she's in heaven." On December 9, 1989, they were married.
Benita had a passion for collecting teddy bears, barbie dolls, inside plants, and shopping. She was also active in her union Local 218 where she served nearly all communities. Benita will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
