Bedford "Buz" Hoyt Lydon, Jr. died on June 30, 2022, at his home in Summit, NJ, a few weeks after enjoying a party for his 92nd birthday. His battle with several medical issues showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a smile. Buz was a proud alumnus of the Taft School and a member of the Psi Upsilon at Lehigh University. He spent most of his career with the Bank of New York. He was a history buff and was a do-it-yourselfer when it came to tasks around the house. Buz was also an athlete. At Taft, he wrestled, played baseball, and played ice hockey. He continued playing hockey at Lehigh. He "shot expert" during his time in the Army. He skied, played tennis, and coached soccer; but he most enjoyed golf. He amazed others with his ability to "tee it high and hit it hard." He was probably Benny Goodman's #1 fan. Buz is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn; by his son Bedford III; by his daughter Amanda Pratt, son-in-law Philip, and grandsons Robert and Charles; by his brother Harris; and by nieces and nephews in the US and UK. He is reunited with his parents, Bedford Sr. and Rebecca, and with his sister Elizabeth Maas. We have fond memories of Buz's sense of humor, his enjoyment of a good party, and his devotion to family and friends. Donations in Buz's memory may be made to the Summit First Aid Squad or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
