Beatrice Campbell Rice died on April 28, 2020 at Prince George Healthcare Center, Georgetown, SC. Graveside services were held on May 5, 2020 at Trinity A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Rev. Patrick Staggers, pastor.
Mrs. Rice was born on February 27, 1926 in Georgetown, SC to Mr. Thomas Phillip Campbell, Sr. and Mrs. Oranna Geathers Campbell. After graduating from Howard High School, she furthered her education at the Fan-O-Lin School of Beauty Culture, State A. and M. College, Allen and Benedict Colleges of Columbia, SC. Beatrice was employed with the South Carolina Board of Education, and the Georgetown County Department of Social Services, from which she retired after many years of service. In her youth she worshiped at Shiloh A.M.E. Church, and later became an active member of Trinity A.M.E. Church. Her marriage to Mr. Joe Cephus Rice was blessed with the births of two sons, Jerome and Travis. Beatrice's family owned and operated "Joe Rice Grocery" for decades. Her husband and children all preceded her in death.
Surviving are her sister, Ruthena Campbell, Georgetown, SC; her nieces, Marthena Bonner, Georgetown, SC, Mattie Ellison, Fairfax, VA, and Patrena Rice, Charlotte, NC. Services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
