96 of Indian Shores, FL died October 6, 2024. Bea was born in Holyoke, MA and lived in Pawtucket and Greenville, RI before moving to Ridge Manor and Indian Shores, FL in 1988. Bea graduated from Bryant College in Rhode Island with a degree in accounting. She volunteered in Grief Share at St. Jerome Church and was a member of the Martha and Mary Guild. Bea also volunteered at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center. Bea is predeceased by her parents Harold Hirt and Iva (Pearson) Hirt and her husband, James Thomas Murphy, Jr. She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Betty) Conner (husband Douglas) and Suki Murphy-Thomas (husband Michael Thomas) both of Tampa and son, James Thomas Murphy, III (wife Lisa) of Greenville, R.I. She is also survived by her sister Phyllis (Hirt) Angers of Camarillo, CA ; seven grandchildren, Kelly and Allison Conner, Benjamin and Jacob Thomas, Jessica Thomas Belser (husband Duncan), James Thomas Murphy, IV (wife Suzanne) and Michael Murphy; two great grandchildren: Wayne T.H. Belser and Charley Moon Murphy. Bea loved to socialize with her friends; playing cards, going to lunch and meeting them at church. Her hobbies were shopping, reading and shopping. Bea was always impeccably dressed, coordinating her outfits with just the right accessories and shoes. Her neighbor, Marilyn Clark, was a valued friend helping her maintain her independence. Much appreciation and love is also given to Nadia Orlova, Bea's friend and caregiver, which enabled her to have the style and quality of life that she treasured for the last seven years. Along with homemade food, Nadia brought dozens of flowers to Bea every week which was a delight to her. Nadia was such a source of comfort during her final days. They had formed a strong bond of love that will be everlasting. A memorial mass will be held November 16, 2024 at 1:00 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd, Largo, FL. For those who cannot attend, the service will be live streamed at www.stjeromeonline.org, click on livestream. Burial will be private.
