Barry Leland Mysers , 72 Dec 19, 1948 - Feb 18, 2021 Barry L Myers of Fort Ashby, WV died Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Born December 19, 1948 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of Leland George Myers and Margaret Ellen (Nield) Myers. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lisbeth W."Beth" Myers, son Colin H. Myers, son Drew Myers and wife Amber and beautiful granddaughters. Vera Lisbeth Myers and Ilaria Breille Myers. Barry is also survived by a sister, Marjorie E. Tressler and husband Roy of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, mother-in-law, Hazel V. Waggoner, sister- in- law, V. Christine Waggoner and husband Thomas Kudo of Charlotte, NC.
A graduate of South Hagerstown High School and Hagerstown Community College, Barry came to Cumberland as the Assistant Store Manager of Safeway Foods in LaVale, MD. Barry retired as a District Manger from Utz Quality Foods after 25 years of service.
In retirement, Barry enjoyed playing golf and loved carpentry, a skill he learned from his father. His most special time in retirement was being with his granddaughters. Barry was a passionate season ticket holder of Mountaineer Football. He looked forward to his Saturday afternoons in Morgantown with his family and friends.
Barry will certainly be remembered for the time he spent serving with the Boy Scouts of America as an Assistant Scoutmaster leading numerous 50 Miler Trips down the South Branch of the Potomac River and biking the C&O Canal. Barry gave generously of his time to many and will be remembered as a kind soul with a big heart, who always had a smile on his face and gave big "bear" hugs.
At this time, due to COVID-19 Precautions a memorial service is planned for late spring. There will be a private ceremony for family for the dispersion of his ashes.
