Barbara Lee Wisda passed away at home on July 2, 2021. Barbara was born in Gonzales, TX, in 1933. Barbara married Jon Wisda in 1953. Their union lasted 61 years until Jon's death in 2014.
Barbara, affectionately called Pinky, was preceded in death by her parents, Ben Roy and Gladys Wallace, Sr., husband Jon Wisda, her brother Ben Roy Wallace, Jr., and granddaughter Tracy Juran Darling. She is survived by daughter Gigi Juran and husband Kenneth of Houston, sons Michael and wife Lynn of Houston, Craig and wife Deborah of Glendale, CA, Jon Brian and wife Theresa of Morrison, CO; grandchildren Kendra, Daniel, Ruth, Joshua, Emilee, Jacob and Sarah; great-grandchildren Aedan, David and John.
"While living in many foreign countries and stateside with my best friend Jon, I served as president of Women's Ministries in Peru, Guatemala, Egypt, California and Texas. I taught university students the Bible at Peruvian and Amazon beach camps. I did volunteer work with the African Mercy Ship of Hope, Embassy Women, as well as Mother Theresa and Billy Graham. I was ordained an Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westlake Village, CA, in 1977. "
Barbara and Jon retired to April Sound, Montgomery in 2000, where she taught Bible studies, sang in the church choir and made many close friends.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Saturday, August 7 at 2 pm at the April Sound Church, officiated by Rev. Dowen Johnson.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to April Sound Church, Montgomery, TX.
