Barbara Jean Howe, 86, of Lapeer, Michigan passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 in South Bend, Indiana. She was born on February 13, 1933 in Flint, Michigan to the late Charles and Pauline (Ballance) Deyo. On August 5, 1968, she married Edgar Howe, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2018.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Valerie (Norman) Nonn and Deborah (Jerry) Warrington; stepchildren, Susan Taylor, Bryan (Phidge) Howe, Phyllis (Matt) Roukas, and Daniel Howe; grandchildren, Sean (Linda Clark) Nonn and Lisa (Brian) Armijo; great-grandchildren, Emma, Jordan and Anna Armijo; sister, Dorothy (Donald) Keller; and brother, Elliott (Margaret) Deyo. In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, James Toombs; and brother, C. Ronald Deyo. She had a special place in her heart for Alyssa and Caleb Cook, whom she helped to take care of since childhood.
Barbara worked in production at AC Sparkplugs in Flint, MI, and also had a silk flower business. She later sold Avon products. She was a former member of the Oddfellow and Rebekah lodge in Lapeer. Barbara loved animals and enjoyed crocheting, baking and gardening, especially tending to her numerous flower beds.
Funeral services and burial of ashes will be held at a later date in Lapeer, Michigan. Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
