Barbara J. Gallant, 66, of Newton, NH, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2025, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on February 10, 1959, in Exeter, NH, daughter of the late Roland and Bethel (Nicol) Estabrook.
Barbara was raised in Newton alongside her brother, Steve, and was a 1977 graduate of Sanborn Regional High School. At just 15, she met the love of her life, William "Bill" Gallant. The two were high school sweethearts, and on January 28, 1978, they were married. They went on to share 47 wonderful years together, raising their family and making Newton their lifelong home.
Barbara was hardworking, creative, and resourceful. Early in her career, she worked as a CNA at Hale Hospital in Haverhill, MA. She later pursued her entrepreneurial spirit through several ventures, including running her own consignment shop in Exeter, founding A-Z Cleaning, and working as both a travel agent and property manager. Alongside her professional endeavors, she was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Her greatest joy came from her family and her lifelong love of animals, especially horses. Barbara spent many happy years raising and showing horses and was an active and beloved member of the local horse community. At home, she also found peace and pride in tending to her flower gardens.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her sons, Matthew Gallant and his wife Sarah, and Christopher Gallant and his wife Brittany; her brother, Steven Estabrook and his wife Sharon; and her six cherished grandchildren: Catherine "Catie" Gallant, Cameron Tuite, Kennedie Gallant, Samantha Gallant, CJ Gallant, and Harper Gallant, one great-grandson, Greyson. She also leaves behind two nephews, Dave and Randy Estabrook.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Lisa Marie Gallant, who passed away in 1989.
