Barbara C. Williams, the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Eva Delesline, was born January 4, 1939 in Charleston, SC. On Sunday, May 3, 2020, she transitioned into eternal rest.
She was educated in the public schools of Bronx, NY and Charleston, SC. She graduated from Bonds-Wilson High School class of 1957. She received a B.S. Degree in Theology from Baptist College (CSU) in Charleston, SC.
Barbara was married to Reverend Melvin S. Williams (retired AME Pastor) on May 24, 1959. From this union two children were born, B. Renee King and Renette Byrd. She was affectionately called "Virginia or Gin" by her family and friends. Starting from Noah's Ark Baptist Church in Charleston, SC, and the House Of God Church Liberty Hill in North Charleston, SC and the Biblical House Of God Church in North Charleston, SC, Barbara faithfully served as an usher, choir member, missionary and Sunday school teacher. Her service continued as a pilot member of the Stephen Ministries and as First Lady in the AME Church for forty-one years.
