Barbara Louise Blankenship
Help us celebrate Barbara! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Barbara.
Barbara Louise Blankenship, born 9/3/58 in Charlotte, NC left us on 7/18/2021 after a short difficult illness. She was predeceased by her loving and beloved parents, Charles Blankenship and Betty Rose Taylor Blankenship. She is survived by her son, Theodore Bernard(Bernie) Blankenship, her brother, Harry(Lou Ann) Blankenship, her sisters Sylvia (Jeffrey) Stallings and Beth (Brian) McElroy, her nephews, Mitch Blankenship, Taylor Blankenship, Drew Frink, and Bert Frink, and her great nephews, Skylar Blankenship and Asher Frink.
Barbara grew up in Charlotte and attended Myers Park High School. She left for an 18 year career in the US Airforce which took her to postings across the globe. Her work as a communications engineer continued with Bell South/ AT&T for another 15 years. Over the next few years, she completed a BS in Paralegal Services and was honored to attend Supreme Court pleadings sponsored by Justice Sotomayor.
Barb was a free spirit and loved music. It could almost be said that she was a charter member of the storied Double Door Inn (don't do the math) and was present there for the closing performance of the Federal Bureau of Rock N Roll.
Services will be at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont at 2pm Friday July 23. Visitation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Autism Society of NC for all their generous support of Barbara and Bernie through the years.
The family wishes to thank the host of skilled critical care givers at Novant Huntersville and Novant Charlotte for all their efforts
