Sister Barbara Rose (Carmen) Arduengo, a sister of Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, died peacefully on December 17, 2020 at Concordia Village of Tampa. Sister was preceded in death by her parents, James F. and Barbara (Fernandez) Arduengo; siblings, James, Barbara Gonzalez, Sister James Michael (Rosemary). She is survived by her brother, Thomas of Inverness, FL, many cousins, nieces, nephews and members of her Religious Community. A native of Tampa, Sister graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and entered the Convent in 1949. Sister Barbara professed her Religious vows in 1951. She earned her BA degree in Music Education from Barry University in Miami and continued with workshops and seminars from Teachers College, Columbia, NY and Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. She taught in Albany, NY at the Academy of the Holy Names as well as the Arts Center. In both places she served as Assistant Chair of Music. In Silver Spring, MD and in Tampa, Clearwater, and Bradenton, FL. Sister Barbara had combinations of classroom teaching, school music programs, children's choir and private piano students. From 1977-1988 Sister served as Secretary/Registrar at the Academy of the Holy Names High School in Tampa. The burial service will be private with a public memorial service at a later date.
