B. Douglas Megargee, 'Moon Dog' 63 of Kennedyville, MD passed away at home on March 11, 2021.
Doug was born on August 7, 1957 in Brigantine, NJ, son of the late Harry and Sarah Wells Megargee. He was a graduate of Atlantic City High School and in fall of 1975, arrived with his surfboard, to Chestertown to attend Washington College. He graduated in 1979 and made Chestertown his home.
Doug was a long-time member of Shrewsbury Parish, former Vestryman, Cemetery Warden, and originator and helpful builder of the Children's Playground. He was a successful member of the team at Gratitude/Osprey Marina in Rock Hall for many years and more recently Coldwell Banker Real Estate where he developed a successful career as a realtor. He also served on the Kent County Planning and Zoning Board, was a Lacrosse Coach for Kent County Youth, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes; an organization near and dear to his heart. In earlier years, he loved to surf, sail, and play tennis. He also gained his love of hunting and carving decoys, from his father. He went on to enjoy log canoe racing, wood working and crafting gifts for loved ones in his workshop.
Doug is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Quercia Megargee; a daughter who was his world, Paige Buchanan Megargee; and 2 sisters, Amanda Sutton of Pound Ridge, NY and Moria Megargee of Deerfield, Mass.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 22nd, at 2 pm in Shrewsbury Parish, Kennedyville, MD, where friends may call after 1 pm.
