Audrey Joan (Howard) Wheatley was born on July 22, 1940, to Alva and Leona (Mills) Howard in Beaver, Oklahoma. She was the second child of seven. Audrey attended Victory Country School until her high school years when she graduated from Laverne High School in 1958.
After graduating, Audrey moved to Darrouzett, Texas, and worked several jobs until meeting Billy Lynn Wheatley to whom she wed on October 8th, 1960, in Amarillo, Texas. To this union were born two children, Bradley Lynn Wheatley on August 4, 1961, and Sydney Jill Wheatley on April 14, 1964.
Aside from a one-year work transfer to Perryton due to Bill’s job, Audrey resided in Darrouzett for the rest of her life.
Audrey attended Beauty College in Woodward, Oklahoma, and was a hairdresser for many years at Barbara’s Beauty Boutique as well as at House of Beauty in Perryton for a couple of years. She worked for Argonaut Energy in Darrouzett from its opening until its closing a few years later, as well as for O&B Tank from 1981 until 1992. After that, she worked for Howard Drilling Company in Beaver, Oklahoma from 1992 until 2011.
Audrey is proceeded in death by her daughter Sydney Jill, husband Billy Lynn, parents Alva and Leona (Mills) Howard, Brother Alva Jr (Sonny), sisters Cherry Gonser and Martha Colling, and brother-in-law Terry Reddick.
She is survived by her son Brad Wheatley of Los Cabos, Mexico; grandson Louis Elston of Darrouzett, Texas; brother, Phillip Howard and wife Marcy; sisters, Kathryn Judd, and husband Gilbert; Linda Reddick, all of Beaver, Brother-in-law Keith Wheatley & wife Susan, Darrouzett, TX; brother-in-law, Bob Colling, Sidney, NE; sister-in-law Luisa Howard, Beaver, OK along with other cherished relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.
