Audrey J Porreca, age 87, of Leesburg, VA and formerly of Ocean City, NJ , and Millville, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 8th at her home in Leesburg. Audrey was born to Charles & Olga Sisco (nee Thompson) on January 3rd, 1935 in Atlantic City, NJ. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Wayne Porreca, her son David, and brother Peter Sisco. Audrey was a loving mother of four sons David, Michael, Mark and Wayne Jr. and was also very close to her daughter-in law, Suzanne Porreca, and Suzanne's daughter, Megan White. She had three grandchildren Matthew, Stella, and Audrey whom she loved very much. On the evening of her passing at home, with two of her sons by her side, the world lost a bright light, one of its brightest. If you knew Audrey, which everyone seemed to, you know she was a feisty, fun-loving Jersey girl all the way to the very end. She raised four mischievous boys and loved her home in Ocean City, NJ. She was a beach girl through and through. Several years back she decided to move closer to family and live near her son Wayne in Leesburg, VA. This time allowed Audrey to spend time and share her wonderful spirit with family while building a wonderful community of friends. She loved to gallivant around town, gossip with the grocery store employees (anyone, really) pick up take-out from her favorite restaurants, meet family for breakfasts at Spanky's, shop at Marshalls seemingly weekly, read trashy novels and strike up conversations with anyone and everyone while relaxing at the pool. She was a fiercely independent woman, disappearing for hours while taking the bus to the casino and library, and God knows where else, just to get out and live. No matter the time or the place, she was so much fun, vibrant, stylish, witty, and kind-hearted, Hilarious and positive, her laughter was contagious and her energy uplifting. Waking up without her has certainly left a void, and will continue to, but her exuberant spirit will be a constant reminder to us to get out there and enjoy life, to always keep it moving, and to not give a hoot what other people think. Audrey will be forever loved and remembered. Until we meet again.
The family will plan a celebration of her life in Ocean City, NJ in the summer of 2022. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your local library.
