Audrey M. Ellingson, age 80, of Caledonia, died on December 5, 2021, surrounded by family. She was born on August 17, 1941 in Caledonia to Joe and Edna (Lund) Eiken.
She grew up on a farm in rural Black Hammer and was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer. She graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1959. She dated Charles Ellingson during high school and they were married on November 25, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. They just celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Audrey attended cosmetology school in Minneapolis and worked a few years as a beautician. Audrey and Charles lived in numerous places and cities over the years, including Montevideo, Minneapolis, and Fargo before making their home in Caledonia in 1975. Charles and Audrey owned Ellingson Motors in Caledonia for many years before retiring in 2020. Audrey really enjoyed greeting and interacting with the customers.
Audrey was an avid walker and would walk 3-4 miles a day, rain or shine. Some of her other hobbies were gardening, cooking, shopping and spending time with her family and she could never pass up a good vanilla ice cream cone.
She is survived by her husband Charles, of Caledonia; 4 children, Susan (Paul) Blaisdell of Dodge Center, MN, Charles (Jamice) Ellingson of Nashville, TN, Anne (Brett) Scheetz of Fort Collins, CO, and Beth (Jesse) Waldron, of Madison, WI; 12 grandchildren, Jack, Kate (Stephen) Barber and Ella Blaisdell, Samantha, Charles Alex, and Grant Ellingson, Emmett, Audrey and Luka Scheetz, and Edna, Arthur, and Harriet Waldron; 1 great-grandchild, Carson. 2 sisters, Karen Kragness of Spring Grove, and Lauren (Craig) Amdahl of Mabel, and 1 brother, David (Renee) Eiken of Spring Grove; Brothers-in-law, Mark (PJ) Ellingson of Divide, CO, and Dean (Jennifer) Ellingson of Spring Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Oren and Alvina Ellingson, her brother Joe Eiken, and brother-in-law Tom Ellingson.
A private funeral service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, with burial at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
