Asterio Segarra, 82, passed away in the early morning hours on April 19, 2021 in Lake City, Florida. He was born in Manhattan, New York to Asterio Segarra and Gladys (Ferrer) Melendez. He served his country for 26 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. He received his Master's degree from Troy State University in 1984 in Adult Education, and worked in computer training, sales, and research. He was a member of the Grassland Baptist Church in Franklin, TN where he served as Deacon, and taught in Sunday school prior to moving to Florida.
Terry lived a full life he devoted to his faith, his friends and family, and service. Terry was a volunteer at various non-profit, faith-based organizations. He enjoyed going out to eat, exercise, travelling, and computers. Terry never stopped expanding his knowledge, and loved to learn. Ever the rock, Terry will be remembered for the wisdom he has passed on, the support he provided, and his unwavering faith.
Terry is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Anne (Dkyes) Segarra; his son, Mark Segarra; sister, Helen Narkawicz; brother, Emil Segarra. Survived by his daughter, Dawn Marie Swinney and son-in-law, Daniel Swinney; brother's, Steven Segarra, David Segarra, and Joseph Melendez; sister's, Lydia Calaway, and Constance Hundley; grandchildren, Rachel Swinney, Jennie Thompson, Haley Clemmer, and Nathan Swinney; and great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Lorea, Desmond, and Ephraim, as well as numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.
Memorial services for Mr. Segarra will be conducted on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 12 Noon in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jon Kent officiating.
