Ashley Scott Rankin passed away on January 5, 2022. A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Ashley was devoted to the people in her life.
Born on April 4, 1943, Ashley was the eldest of four children in the Scott family. A graduate of Bolton High School in Alexandria, and a student at Louisiana State University. In Dallas, Ashley had a successful modeling career and later worked in interior design. Ashley was always interested in learning languages and was a prolific painter.
Ashley was preceded in death by her parents, Blanche and Honorable Judge Nauman Scott, Jr. of Alexandria, her brothers Nauman Scott, III of New Orleans, John Wyeth "Jock" Scott of Alexandria, daughter Devereaux Leigh Smith, husbands, Cloyce Kennedy Box, and Byron McLean "Mack" Rankin.
Ashley is survived by her son, Ashton Emmett Smith, his wife Karen Zapatka Smith of Dallas, two grandchildren, Samantha Stafford Smith and Scott Ashton Smith, her first husband, Junious "Jay" Emmett Smith, her brother, Arthur Hammond Scott of New Orleans, sisters-in-law, Cynthia "Cyndy" Henderson Scott and Patty Brame Scott, nieces and nephews, Natalie Scott Seeling, John Wyeth Scott III, Elizabeth Scott Etienne, Stafford Scott Maestri, Nauman Steele Scott IV, Madeleine Taylor Scott, Hudson Chandler Hammond Scott, and Lark Savannah Scott.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 5 at 10:00 am at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Lane in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
