Arthur Thomas Sandy, 86, went to be with Jesus Christ our Savior, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in Charlotte, NC. He was born April 18, 1935, in Everettville, WV to the late Arthur Carl and Marguerite (Daughenbaugh) Sandy. He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1953 and earned a B.S. degree in 1958 in Geology from West Virginia University (WVU), in Morgantown, WV.
Arthur, also called "Art" and "Tom", lived most of his working life in Parkersburg and Williamstown, WV where he was employed by Pennzoil, Borg Warner Chemicals, and General Electric, managing energy resources.
Art was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Serra Club, St. Margaret Mary's Parish Council, Parkersburg Catholic Schools Board, and the Mountaineer Athletic Club. An avid high school athlete in baseball, football, track, and golden gloves boxing, he became a lifelong fan of WVU Mountaineer sports. Tom enjoyed classical music, opera, hunting, pets, spending time with family, and daily prayer and devotion. He savored a good laugh with such comedians as Peter Sellers, or hearing funny stories told by family and friends. He and his wife Betty spent their retirement in Williamstown, WV and Beverly Hills, FL before moving to Charlotte, NC to be closer to family and senior care.
Arthur was a loving husband to his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Ann (Foor), who survives him. He was proud of his three children who survive him: Tamara, wife of Bob Kreizel, New York, NY; Tom, husband of Krista (Holbrook), Charlotte, NC; and John, husband of Michelle (Sturms), Potomac Falls, VA; seven grandchildren: Shane, Marcus, Zack, Morgan, Brittany, Abbey, and Joel; and ten great grandchildren: Malachi, Jaden, Dylan, Gracie, Marcus, Kingston, Khloe, Russell, Eleanor, and Bowen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Susan McGraw, Huntsville, AL, and brothers: Robert Foley, Santa Maria, CA, and John Foley, Gloster, MS.
