Our father, Arturo, passed away peacefully at this home on November 27, 2022. Born September 22, 1931 to Manuel De Los Santos and Sara Longoria.
Arturo was a Sergeant in the Korean War and a recipient of the Korean War Medal with two Bronze Stars, The United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a Fire Fighter for 33 years in Harlingen. He retired as an Assistant Chief. His passion was playing golf and loved riding his John Deer lawnmower.
He is survived by his four children, Arturo (Jeanette) De Los Santos, Jr., Becky (Robert) Montemayor, Rick (Lisa) De Los Santos and Michelle (Mark) Malinovsky; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also, his two sisters, Ninfa Fiedler and Mary Helen Cano.
Preceded in death were his other siblings, Willie De Los Santos, Robert De Los Santos, Bertha Moody, Alicia Westlake and Tony De Los Santos.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the VA and his caregiver Lydia.
Visitation will begin Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and a rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2022 departing the Rudy Garza Funeral Home at 12:30 PM for a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 205.
