Arthur K. "Skip" Kimball, 84, of North Bay, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, July 23, 2021, at the Abraham House in Rome.
He was born on July 26, 1936, in Oneida, the son of Arthur B. and Esther M. Tofte Kimball.
On July 19, 1955, Skip enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on May 4, 1957.
On September 14, 1957, Skip was united in marriage to Rose Arline May in North Bay, a blessed union of forty-seven years, until her passing on December 17, 2004.
Skip was employed in the warehouse of John Deere in Syracuse for over thirty years, retiring in 1998. He was previously employed by Sears-Roebuck in Rome and the former Utica Gear. His favorite job was working with his son, Dennis, at Kimball Brothers Grounds Care Services from 1991 until just recently. He would mow lawns all day long if given the opportunity.
He spent his entire life honing his skills to become a master builder, finish carpenter, cabinet maker, plumber, electrician, landscaper, mason, mechanic, well-digger, truck driver, coach, problem solver, counselor, and teacher. He was a former trail groomer for the Taberg Trailblazers and was known for volunteering his time to anyone who needed it.
Skip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Surviving are his children, Richard (Patti) Kimball, of Blossvale, Cindy (Jack) Hinkle, of Camden, and Dennis (Tracy) Kimball, of North Bay; two sisters, Audrey Adragna, of Cleveland, and Gloria Meinen, of Camden; six grandchildren, Andrew (Abby) Kimball, Molly Kimball (David Linton), Kaysey Hinkle, Kianne (Jordan) Wohlfert, Tyler Kimball, and Nicholas Kimball; two great-grandsons, Bennett and Bowen Kimball; and many nieces and nephews. Skip was predeceased by four sisters, Grace Kotwica, Ella Meinen, Pauline Wright, and Barbara Mallery; and one brother, Victor I. Kimball.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 1:00PM, at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., where his nephew, Steve Mallery will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will take place in McConnellsville Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida.
